capturing the void

Capturing the Void was an experimental visual art exhibition created at Nisus Gallery in Portland, OR in 2013. This site specific/responsive installation combined framed collage works created in my studio with collage-based installation strategies. Masking tape, tissue paper, bond paper and photocopies were adhered directly to the walls of the gallery as well as a ‘house’ form created out of reconfigured, upcycled shipping pallets creating an inhabitable collage that opened up vital space for productive, critical reflection. I used visually appealing images related to the region and a graphic art sensibility from a bygone world of American advertising to create an engaging, immersive environment.
